Your new role
In your new role, you will be assisting the Project Team of Engineers and Technicians to prepare all 2D / 3D highway drawings for the determination of project plans in accordance with relevant standards. Along with this, you will also be producing deliverables, coordinating drawing production in line with project requirements and in conjunction with the other disciplines, and review project files for compliance with standards. Drawings should be produced with a high level of continuity and accuracy and you will be expected to contribute and / or assist as and when required. More senior technicians should feel comfortable with supporting the development and mentoring others in the use of technical design packages and standards.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a minimum of a BTEC or equivalent in a relevant subject and will be working towards a professional qualification with a relevant professional body (if not already achieved). Through the experience that you have already gained, you should have knowledge in various, if not all, aspects of highways design which would include alignment and junction design. Experience within relevant software packages is essential along with a high level of motivation and initiative with an ability to work under pressure. Communication with clients and colleagues will play an important part in your day to day duties and the ability to be able to manage sensitive and sometimes confidential information.
