Your new company are a very well established and well respected Structural Engineering Consultancy. Based in Gloucestershire, they have a large client base in the surrounding areas, as well as nationally. The practice has expanded its boundaries since its very early days, completing contracts all over the UK and internationally in countries such as China. A large amount of the work they do is still local and this consists of new design, remedial and refurbishment projects in the commercial industrial and domestic markets. With a practice as well versed as this one, they provide calculations and detail drawings for all forms of construction, from single story house extensions to multi-story office blocks, school and industrial buildings, with contract values of up to £10M.
Your new role
In your new role, you will be undertaking detailed structural calculations on a very diverse scope and size of projects in all the traditional adopted building materials. As you will be working closely with Technicians and other Engineers, you will coordinating your work with other members of the project team. Experience carrying out project site inspections and approvals and assisting with reports is required. Liaising with the clients, design team members and other external parties is necessary to ensure that the designs and the smooth running of projects meets the agreed requirements. You will also need to have knowledge in the preparation of budget fee proposals and expected to take a keen interest in the management and promotion of the practice, aiming to improve efficiency wherever possible.
What you'll need to succeed
As you will be responsible for detailed calculations using analysis software such as Tekla Structural Designer, Tekla Tedds, Building Designer, CAD's and others if preferred, you will need to be proficient in using these programs and work to a high standard. Communication skills are essential due to the liaising with other engineers and designers and all external parties such as the clients. Strong organisational skills along with the preparation and understanding of detailed designs is essential. Assisting in the general day to day running of the office will be a small part of the job, but equally as important.
What you'll get in return
You will be rewarded with a competitive salary of between £30,000 - £38,000 dependant on experience plus benefits package.
