You will be in a passionate supported housing organisation who focuses on working with people who are homeless and working on the prevention of homelessness.
Your new role
As a relief support worker, you will be working with people who have been affected by homelessness as and when required. You will be working in a supported housing project, offering support for homelessness, drug addiction and substance misuse. As a relief worker you may be required to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and unsociable hours. This role is perfect if you are looking to gain experience in supported housing or are looking to pick up extra hours in your current role. As a support worker you will be working with complex needs within the housing sector, working within a busy sector in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful support worker, you will need to be understanding and empathetic to the people you are providing support for. You must be confident and feel comfortable to potential lone work and previous experience within homelessness or complex needs is essential. You must have the ability to communicate effectively and be able to work in challenging situations. As you are working with vulnerable service users a DBS is needed , or the documents to produce a DBS on your behalf is essential.
