A new job has arisen within a large government organisation who are responsible for the maintenance and management of a large portfolio of properties across the North of Scotland. This organisation has approximately 360 buildings and 200 infrastructure assets across 140 sites. As the Head of Estates, you team will cover a large geographical area from Fife, across to Argyle & Bute, the Highland & Islands and Aberdeen.
Your new role
You'll lead and manage a team of eleven direct reports in both Dundee and throughout the estate. You'll report directly to the Chief Executive, be based at head office in Dundee and be responsible for the successful delivery of all Hard & Soft FM services across 140 sites. You will be responsible for all reactive, planned and cyclical maintenance works throughout the Estate. Strong leadership and change management skills are essential to this role. You'll be required to liaise with public sector partners, contractors, suppliers, solicitors, architects and consultants. You will also attend meetings in London quarterly and be expected to contribute to high level discussions.
What you'll need to succeed
You'll be a Chartered Building Surveyor, MRICS, with a proven track record managing Estates teams at a middle to senior level. You'll be able to demonstrate change management skills and provide examples of successful delivery in a management position. You'll have competent financial and budget management experience within a Maintenance/FM/Property environment and ideally be MCIOB certified. The ideal candidate will also have experience operating within a military/MOD environment although this is not essential. Public Sector experience and knowledge of the NGEC delivery model would be desirable. Strong communication and people management skills are essential. You'll also be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. You'll be required to complete Disclosure Scotland Checks for this role and expected to have a full, clean, driving licence.

You'll receive a competitive salary along with a company car for this role. You'll be based at the company's head office in Dundee and be compensated accordingly for any significant travel or overnight stays across the region. You will be given responsibility of a Planned/Cyclical Hard & Soft FM budget of approximately £4m along with another £4-5m for the Capital Works Programme.
