H&S Officer / HSE Advisor
A driven H&S/HSE professional to join a provider of construction, refurb & maintenance services in Portsmouth.
Your new company
My client are working exclusively with Hays: Health and Safety and are a successful, growing company based in Portsmouth. The business provide professional, safe and high-quality construction, refurbishment, and maintenance services across southern England and London, working in both public and private sectors including: contract catering, contract cleaning, building and facilities maintenance.
Your new role
The company are looking to appoint 1 person for either the H&S Officer or HSE Advisor role (but not both positions). They are flexible on whether they develop the H&S Officer role, or look to someone more senior/established in the HSE Advisor position.
Both are mobile jobs (40 hours/week) with a mixture of office and site-based work, so a Full UK Licence is essential. Either role will report to the Head of HSE.
You will be the key individual within the team for overseeing all day to day activities such as auditing, incident investigation, training and inductions, review and provision of risk assessments, method statements, and statistical reporting and measurement of Health & Safety.
Support the Head of HSE in the delivery of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Strategy promoting a positive and collaborative approach to improve behaviours and culture, whilst ensuring the Company complies and adheres to all current legislation, policies and procedures.
What you'll need to succeed
My client are keen to appoint a flexible, driven person who wants to progress in a positive manner aligned with the future plans of the business. The requirements for each role are listed below.
A NEBOSH General/Construction qualification or above, ideally qualified to deliver internal courses on Asbestos, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Face fit, Asbestos Removal, Abrasive Wheels, RAMS, and Incident investigation & Root Cause Analysis. You must have at least 2 years experience in providing health and safety advice in the construction and/or building maintenance sectors.
A GRAD IOSH Member (working towards CMIOSH) or industry recognised equivalent, with a NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate. You must be qualified to deliver internal courses on Asbestos, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Face fit, Asbestos Removal, Abrasive Wheels, RAMS, and Incident investigation & Root Cause Analysis.
