Senior Quantity Surveyor
Your new company
This developer have been around for over 30 years and have gone from strength to strength, over the last 2 years they have seen some significant repeat business and as a result have been awarded a large development that will take their turnover to £16 million this year. They are based in Mid Kent, but cover the whole of the UK, which allows them to be more strategic and work for and on the better projects aligned with their business. They have a few choice private clients they currently work with and this has meant new work has been from referral, as well as other private sector work they tender for.
They work on high end developments that range from bespoke 2-3 bedroom houses to 30 unit apartments, which can be mixed use developments. They have a strong project list of 15 site with another 12-15 in the pipeline. This is an extremely busy growth period for them.
As a result, they are now looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor, reporting into a Managing Director to come on board and manage some of the larger projects.
Your new role
The role of the Quantity Surveyor will be to work within the commercial team, the main purpose of the role would include; overseeing the commercial management of various large housing projects, accurately report the financial and contractual situation of the suppliers responsible for, measure and assess the work undertaken and then submit detailed, accurate and timely applications for payment including final accounts, take timely and proper action (e.g., notices) in accordance with the contract. Assist with preparation of contractual claims, contribute to the set up and review of the project risk register and financial and contractual needs of a contract are fully met in line with the required standards and time constraints
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be considered for this role you will need to have relevant experience working for a either a House Builder or developer, knowledge of construction methods and materials and strong mathematical and IT skills. You will also need to have a HND/HNC in Surveying or equivalent but ideally a degree.
