Senior Quantity Surveyor - Data Centre Sector

Salary, up to £65,000 plus package and benefits

An internatinoal and award winning construction and property consultancy are seeking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Cost Manager to work within a newly formed specialist division, working with dedicated client accounts and supporting the businesses' strategy of growing their capacity across the Data Centre sector, both within the UK and EMEA-wide.

Key Experience:

  • Experienced in technical estimating (MEP biased), with a desire to lead and coach junior staff
  • Comfortable meeting and engaging with existing and new clients, on fast paced, large scale technical projects
  • Capable of building excellent relationships with existing and new clients, on all aspects of the project and client care
  • 5+ years' experience with Data Centres and other technology driven mission critical projects eg. Pharmaceutical, Medical Facilities etc.
  • Equally skilled at pre-construction and construction change estimating;
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, all methods of construction procurement
  • Strong market intelligence and interest in the UK/EMEA data centre market, knowledge and understanding of key industry players
  • Computer based estimating software experience, e.g. on screen take off
  • BIM and/or Tableau experience desirable

Role and Responsibilities

  • Identify factors that influence construction costs, and monitor and report on this data in an interactive way
  • Negotiate estimates and change orders with contractors
  • Successfully closeout contracts and final accounts
  • Review, validate and audit cost estimates prepared by contractors and others within a client's organisation
  • Benchmarking for validation and target-setting
  • Provide cost support to new innovative Research and Development engineering solutions
  • Providing cost input into value engineering solutions
