The UCL Estate comprises over 200 buildings valued in excess of £2 billion, more than four million square feet of academic accommodation and c 4000 student bedrooms. The scale, variety and complexity of the estate are unparalleled in the sector. UCL Estates is responsible for managing the delivery of an Estate Strategy with a capital investment programme in excess of £1.25 billion over the next ten years, with projects ranging in scale, complexity and value (from £100k to £500m).
Based on the requirements to deliver UCL’s projected £1.25 billion capital programme UCL Estates is embarking on a period of transformation to ensure that the Estates Development and Major Projects teams are resourced and organised in line with best practice and the scale of what needs to be achieved. We now seek to recruit a team of five key senior professionals who will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery and mobilisation of major capital projects and/or a range of complex capital and small works projects including new build, refurbishments and improvements across the UCL estate.
The Assistant Director for UCL East will act as the client side Project Director for the largest ever single expansion of UCL since the University was founded nearly 200 years ago. It will be a new UCL campus, complementing the Bloomsbury campus, and will be located on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, to the south of the Aquatics Centre and the ArcelorMittal Orbit in Stratford. Phase 1 consists of the delivery of the first two buildings with a combined size of 50,000 square metres.
Candidates for this role will have significant experience in a project delivery role with lead responsibility for managing large scale projects in excess of £50m in value. They will possess a track record of managing projects with comparable characteristics to those found at UCL East such as large scale, mixed-use new-build projects.
