Senior Design Manager

Leeds Beckett University continues to be one of the UK’s largest universities, in one of the UK’s more popular student cities. We are proud of our award-winning estate and two impressive campuses, one in Leeds city centre and the other in Beckett Park, Headingley.

The Estates Services department are seeking to make the key appointment of a Senior Design Manager. This is an exciting role in a newly created post with the chance to manage and lead the technical aspects of their major capital programme, with a value in excess of £200m over the next 5 years. There is an opportunity for the right candidate, to work with the Project, Maintenance and Design teams, to really influence and deliver the future of the University’s built estate.

You will be responsible for co-ordinating the formation of the appropriate design strategies, ensuring that they are adhered to and supported, whilst providing the essential connection between the design phase and the construction process, bringing the project to reality.  In essence, the Senior Design Manager is an integrator that brings together the various parts of the design into a coherent structure.

The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding and experience in applying principles of project management, knowledge of practical construction methodology in addition to a strong track record in managing technical information on projects.  You will have a good understanding of Soft Landings principles and the utilisation of Building Information Management to achieve a focus on Smart buildings.
