Your new role
As a support worker you will be working on an adhoc basis working a wide range of shifts from waking nights, day shifts and weekends. You will be providing emergency cover, with the service relying on you to engage and communicate with their service users. As a support worker you will be working in a mental health project within Blaina. As a support worker you will be working in an accommodation based service for people who are at risk of being admitted to hospital or people that are currently in hospital due to their mental health challenges and are ready to resettle into the community. You will be providing strong support in a way that focuses on people's strengths, hobbies and interests with a strong focus on engagement in the local community; developing skills, building positive relationships and helping people to manage their mental health challenges. As a support worker you will work with tenants supporting them to achieve their aspirations, utilising strengths and asset based approach that is tailored to what matters to them with a focus on enabling them to link with their local communities. Ultimately you will work with people to ensure they have meaningful and stable relationships in their lives and assist them to have a sense of purpose.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful within this support worker role you must be passionate about making a difference to service users lives. If you are motivated, enthusiastic and care about helping people fulfil their potential, then you will thrive within this support worker position. You need to be flexible, committed and reliable. As you are working with vulnerable people you must have an enhanced DBS or the documents to produce a DBS on your behalf.
