Development Design Manager
The University of Cambridge seeks a Development Design Manager to lead and manage the strategic development of all design functions associated with the North West Cambridge Development (NWCD).
Reporting to the Construction Director, the successful applicant will have extensive experience of designing and or managing the design of high quality, residential, commercial, community, research and education buildings of various typologies. With extensive experience of delivering large projects, the successful candidate will have experience of setting the strategy and managing multiple design teams. They must have extensive knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, legislation and contractual routes associated with procurement of design and construction.
In charge of the overall design development, the Design manager will oversee all fundamental parts of the design process. He/she will be responsible for leading and managing the strategic development of all design functions associated with the NWCD program, including taking the lead in management of the various design teams. They will co-ordinate the various work-streams and monitor progress against the strategic programme, and monitor quality of design deliverables against the project briefs.
The Design Manager will ensure effective communication and negotiation of design related matters between NWCD and a wide variety of external stakeholders, contractors and supply chains.
