Role Overview

Rider Levett Bucknall is seeking a professional Business Development Manager to identify and develop business opportunities for our Manchester office. This is a 12 months fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.

Reporting directly to the regional Managing Partner, the overall purpose of the role is to provide innovative support for the delivery of a coordinated sales and marketing strategy, ensuring an ongoing sales pipeline for the region.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual looking to “own” the Business Development function and make a difference to the Manchester Office with support from the Technical Team. You will be promoting Rider Levett Bucknall’s capabilities and marketing RLB to a variety of clients in the local area as well as nationally, contributing to the achievement of our sales and market share targets.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  1. Pursue new business opportunities and work with the technical team to proactively develop and nurture existing client relationships
  2. Identify and create appointments with a strategy for achieving new business
  3. Represent RLB in a confident and professional manner at Industry Events
  4. Identify further opportunities for repeat business and the cross selling of professional services
  5. Act as communications and liaison conduit between regional Business Development Managers to assist in the delivery of the national business development strategy
  6. Proactively market regional “wins” in collaboration with RLB’s National Marketing, PR & Communications Manager
  7. Share client information and opportunities with other regional Business Development Managers
  8. Manage regional database to assist with effective sales tracking and customer relationship management (CRM) activities for the region
  9. Develop and maintain a full understanding and appreciation of RLB’s service offering, latest developments and USP
  10. Initiate and administer Regional events 
To be considered for this role you must have the following experience:

Essential:

  1. GCSE Math and English (A-C) or equivalent
  2. Exceptional IT skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and data tracking packages (e.g. database and/or online tracking systems)
  3. A minimum of five years experience in a business development role with at least two years leading a regional BD function
  4. High level of organisational skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  5. Excellent communication and client/external interface skills
  6. Recognising and pursuing new business opportunities
  7. Nurturing and developing potential growth and additional service streams with existing clients
  8. Proven track record of sustainable sales growth, through targeted customer engagement and networking
  9. Analysing and reporting on  regional developments and market trends
  10. A team player with a ‘can do’ attitude, outgoing, personable and flexible with the ability to influence people at all levels of the business and deliver agreed objectives 
Highly Desirable:
  1. Supporting a regional ‘Bids’ and ‘Tenders’ function
  2. Knowledge of the Property and Construction industry will be ideal but not essential
  3. Degree level education
Salary and Benefits

£28,000-£35,000 + Benefits (12 Months Contract)
