Job: Senior Commercial Manager, Digby Morris

Digby Morris’ client is a recently established JV company operating in the UAE and Qatar and they are already one of the region’s largest multi-disciplinary contractors. The two companies’ experience in large scale and complex buildings and civils projects brought together enables them to tackle some of the UAE’s and Qatar’s most challenging and exciting projects to date. The company has an order book worth $4billion already with significant additional schemes in the pipeline.

Employing over 30,000 people already, but with a phenomenal growth rate and growing order book, the company currently has a huge number of immediate vacancies for senior level staff to be based working on a number of their signature schemes in Abu Dhabi.

The Person

• Minimum 20+ years experience
• Exposure to and working knowledge of Cost Management systems – budgets, forecasts and Cost/Value reconciliations – recognized systems like CHEOPS, ERP, CCS
• Reporting to divisional manager/directorate, responsible for large scale project or multiple smaller projects
• Significant exposure to major subcontract and supplier procurement/management through to settlement of difficult (possibly adversarial/disputed) Final Accounts.
• Experience of whole-life projects – commencement through to final account an advantage
• Experience of closure/final accounts on several projects
• 5 to 10 years management of commercial function– should have experience of management of multiple subordinates – accountants/QS/SQS/Commercial Managers
• Medium to large scale building experience – projects of GBP100m+.
• HND or Degree level education
• Exposure to dispute resolution would be advantageous along with Claim preparation experience; both prosecution and defence
• Exposure to multiple forms of bespoke contracts required. FIDIC and D&B projects would be advantageous.
• Experience of pre-contract stage, negotiations with Clients, consultants would be positive
• Experience of Joint Ventures and consortiums again positive
• Overseas experience required (although strong candidates with right profile would be considered).
• Senior management level person seeking a long term progressive role and be a positive contributor to bottom line profitability
