Job: Head of Construction, Macdonald & Company

A development/construction project manager is required to join the management team at the Hargreaves Group of Companies. The position has arisen as a result of the continued growth of the business, which is commercial and residential development and investment. The group policy has always been and still is, one of seeking long term growth and stability in preference to quick short term profit and in consequence commercial developments are always retained for investment. This has led to the company now having a very substantial portfolio of predominantly commercial investment properties of over 2.5 million sq.ft. as well as an ongoing residential and commercial development program. The Hargreaves Group originated over 40 years ago and now operates with a wide range of in house skills including its own construction division.

The Position

• To strategically lead and manage the performance and delivery of all construction aspects.

• To brief/advise, liaise, appoint and manage contractors through all stages of the design, development and construction process.

• To ensure that all projects are programmed realistically to achieve targets and completion dates, together with regular financial and progress reporting to the group directors.

• To ensure that all health & safety and other legislative guidelines are complied with at all times in respect of all ongoing projects.

The Individual

• You will have a demonstrable track record gained within the construction industry, together with an instinctive feel and understanding for development would be an advantage especially in the South East region.

• The successful candidate must have direct management construction experience of the new build residential and commercial property markets.

• A wide variety of sector experience would be an advantage to undertake this role effectively along with the ability to communicate at all levels within the company and out on site.

• You need to be an excellent leader with an original and forward thinking approach and the drive to motivate and support your team, together with regular liaisons and communication with other staff within the group.
