The Commissioners are one of the UK’s leading property investment organisations with a portfolio of £5.7 billion. Within this portfolio they also own and manage a portfolio of unparalleled historic interest, 44 Episcopal houses comprising properties ranging from the 9th century to the 1960’s. They also have regulatory role in the use of certain Cathedral funds. A fantastic and rare opportunity has arisen to employ an experienced property professional to provide additional professional support to the Church Commissioners Property Investment Department focusing on Episcopal houses and cathedral work.

The role covers two primary functions that will give you the chance to be involved Episcopal houses and cathedrals offering a chance to work with some of the most exciting and interesting buildings in the country. The successful applicant will assist the Commissioners in their support to cathedral, working with the See House Portfolio Manager, assessing asset management opportunities. Such assessments will include informal advice on development opportunities and costing, contract management and value enhancement. Additionally, you will provide routine building surveying support to the See House portfolio. Such support will include managing building contracts, preparing specifications and managing contractors.

THE POSITION

  • Supporting the Senior Property Manager in the management of external agents on the See House portfolio.
  • Managing building contracts less than £250,000.
  • Providing a ‘1st point of contact’ to cathedrals’ administrators for property related enquiries.
  • Undertaking asset management assessments of cathedral property schemes for the Church Commissioners.
THE INDIVIDUAL
  • You will have a related property degree or diploma and hold a professional qualification or bein the process of achieving one.
  • Strong technical abilities are essential, as is good knowledge of property management; experience of historic buildings and conservation would be ideal but not necessary.
  • An effective and diplomatic communicator who can work with nonproperty contacts and departmental colleagues equally well.
  • Flexible and organised approach to handle a varied workload and tasks.
